He confirmed in a separate tweet that his speech is scheduled for around 9pm ET next Thursday – the fourth and final night of the DNC.
His fellow Democrat from California, Ted Lieu, also responded to the news, saying the absence of Asian-American speakers at the DNC is “a slap in the face.”;
A businessman, Yang rose from the darkness to become a highly visible candidate, amassing a coalition of liberal Democrats, liberals and some disgruntled Republicans. He defended the unique positions of politics as a basic universal income and his campaign slogan was “Make America Think More”, with the acronym MATH.
Political conventions typically contain four days of full programming, but the coronavirus pandemic forced this year’s Democratic event to condense into two hours of primary coverage over four nights.
Several former presidential candidates for 2020 are scheduled to speak including Sens. Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
The congress is scheduled to take place from August 17-20.
