LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) – Giannis Antetokounmpo has been suspended for Milwaukee’s last game of the regular season, given a one-game penalty on Wednesday for header by Moe Wagner of Washington.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.
Antetokounmpo will be eligible for Game 1 of the Bucks first round series against Orlando, which will almost certainly be played on Monday or Tuesday at Walt Disney World.
The incident happened Tuesday night when Wagner received an indictment against Antetokounmpo in the second quarter. Antetokounmpo seemed to be talking angrily, followed Wagner to the other end, and the header took place a few seconds later.
Antetokounmpo said after the game that the header was a “terrible move”; and that if he “could go back, go back in time and get back into that game, I would not do it.” He said he was irritated by a flurry of contacts, on a night where he had already received 12 free kicks in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Antetokounmpo withdrew from the match for the foul of Flagrant-2. He finishes the regular season with an average of 29.5 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists, numbers that are likely to be good enough to earn him a second consecutive NBA MVP award.
