Benet’s career is traveling with nothing but the snail rhythm. If that snail does not have a rocket attached to its shell.
New Zealand Newcastle casts “Snail”, a pop, lovely, upbeat number that she wrote after it lasted a few weeks in closing (and spent a lot of time looking down).
The track is produced and recorded by Josh Fountain. In it, she sings “I’m like a snail, you’re a crazy kid / Kinda can not fly.”
It turns out, Benee is intrigued by the usual garden variety. “When we were in the jam, I was fascinated by snails,” she explains in a statement. “There was really not much to do, so I would spend a lot of time outside watching the snails and thinking about how they are doing their little things and everyone is free. I just played around with the idea of being “kind of like the snail and how it gets in the rain. Being stuck inside because of COVID, it̵7;s kind of my closing song.”
Benee recordings are arriving fast. “Snail” comes right after “Night Garden” and “Lownely”, the sequels to its 2019 progression for “Supalonely”.
For the record, Benee and the rest of her compatriots are driven by the blockade. Last Sunday, New Zealand marked 100 days without the COVID-19 community broadcast.
