Fencing was set up off a agoikago beach to prevent people from entering the enclosed area after the mayor blew up beaches not far from society for “their reckless behavior”.
The barrier was spotted Sunday outside Montrose Beach, which along with other beaches, playgrounds and pools east of Lake Shore Drive, remains closed to coronavirus concerns, NBC Chicago reported.
On Saturday, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot convened a gathering of mostly masked men who gathered nearby in a grassy area near Montrose Beach.
“It’s called a pandemic, people,” Lightfoot tweeted. “This reckless behavior on Montrose Beach is what will cause us to close the parks and the lake shore. Do not make us take steps backwards.”;
The mayor added that she controlled the scene herself and said the situation was “being addressed”.
