Heather Morris has a message for Glee fans mourning the death of Naya Rivera: “You are not alone.”
Morris, 33, wrote those words in an Instagram post Sunday that featured a tearful discussion grieving Rivera, who tragically died last month at 33, and celebrating the historic relationship on screen of the duo.
“I want you to know that we are all here with you, that grief looks different from everyone and I want you to be gentle and kind to yourself during this time,” Morris told fans in the video. “I think many of you can feel very far away and I hope this message will help you feel closer.”
“Lately I have felt very heavy. I have been feeling this pain in my heart to connect with my fans, to connect with all those who have felt a little lost and a little confused during this. time, “she said.

In a series of tragic events last month, Rivera disappeared from a boat she rented with her 4-year-old son, Josey, on Lake Piru in Ventura County on July 8th. After several days of searching, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced on July 13 that a body found in the lake was Rivera.
In the Instagram video, Morris reflected on the connection of her “Glee” character Brittany Pierce with Santana Lopez of Rivera, a shining example of LGBTQ representation on television for the Fox show.
Morris said there is little reason to explain the importance of relationship on screen “because most of you felt like it was your gateway to your current life. Most of you felt like it was an inspiration to become your better self.” .
Morris continued: “I want you to know that this was never lost on me. It was never lost on Naya. We both knew how special she was. I think she knew a little more than I did. I really felt it “that much later with all the messages and all the people arriving. And I knew the writers knew that too. They were basically writing for the fans.”
The “Glee” star tried to fight back tears as she explained, “I know many of you feel very lost and very far from what happened, maybe a little confused. And that’s completely normal. But I felt like i it owed you guys. “
“I want to thank you all for being such advocates and so supportive of the Santana and Brittany relationship,” Morris said. “Because without you guys it would never have existed. You guys helped create something for writers and, for Naya and me, it made an impact that will last for a lifetime and beyond.”
Rivera himself told The Hollywood Reporter in 2012 about the relationship on TV, “I have so many stories of people that the script really touched them and hit the house for them. It’s created a fan base for me that never “I did not think I would … it ‘s really interesting to know that there are people out there that matter and that your work matters.”
