The SEC made a number of announcements yesterday that will change what the 2020 season looks like. This of course raises many questions, especially with how it all relates to football from Georgia.
Below we try to answer some of the most frequently asked questions, as well as what they all mean for next season.
How many matches will Georgia play football in the 2020 season?
The SEC announced on Thursday that Georgia and all SEC teams will play 10 matches, all of which are just a conference.
This is how Georgia Georgia Tech will play football?
No, this will be the first season since 1924 that the two sides do not meet.
“It’s unfortunate,” said Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity. “And you’re really seeing it around college athletes this year. There ‘s so many abnormal situations that are at play that will certainly create a lot of frustration and misfortune.
“The pandemic has just created so many wonders that many things are almost out of your control. Just one of the things that is unfortunate when you are in a situation like this. Just plain unfortunate. “
Georgia Tech coach’s Geoff Collins was also interested in the topic. The ACC schedule had allowed teams to have a non-conference game in addition to 10 conference games.
“I am disappointed that our players will not have the opportunity to play our game of intra-state rivalry this season, but to respect the SEC decision,” Collins said. “We will continue to focus on controlling what we can control in a structured environment with thoughtful protocols and staying ready to go out and compete this fall, if public health guidance allows it.
“All we need to know is where and when, and we will be willing to throw the ball down and compete.”
So which teams will play football from Georgia this season?
The Bulldogs will play eight SEC teams from their 2020 SEC opening schedule: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Tennessee.
The conference will add two more SEC West teams to Georgia football schedule.
Which SEC West teams will be added to the Georgia 2020 football schedule?
It is still unknown. It turned out that the SEC could add to the scheme the next two teams in the SEC West rotation. For Georgia, that means the Bulldogs would have a home game against Arkansas and a road game against the state of Mississippi.
But Texas A&M athletics director Ross Bjork said nothing has been completed about the issue. Sport Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger stated that a schedule power model would be used to define the two extra teams.
The right decision for the health and safety of our university communities and all involved.
Despite the reports – apart from the 8 previously planned SEC games – we do not yet know our full opponents schedule – Further details to come when available. https://t.co/Wj7ldTDMdT

So when is the first Georgia football match?
The SEC will start its season on September 26th. This is after the proposed ACC start date of the week of September 7-12. The delayed start date gives the conference more time to see what effect student integration on campus will have on teams.
“We’ve certainly listened to our medical professionals and we felt like a later start would put us in a better position from a health standpoint and be able to observe what is happening to others that may start in time,” he said. we’ll be able to see what ‘s going on in the NFL, you just have more dates to compare before we start, “McGarity said. “So all those things lined up and of course there was a lot of heated discussion in the room, but we all planned it out and agreed that the 10-game schedule was where we needed to end.”
Will the previously planned football games in Georgia be relocated?
Alabama game, for sure it will be, as scheduled for September 19th. Georgia will also have to pick a new opponent for November 28, when the Bulldogs decided to play Georgia Tech. Georgia was scheduled to play Louisiana-Monroe on September 26, but that date is now open and needs to be met as well.
So while some matches may remain at their original points, there will be some changes to the football schedule in Georgia.
So when will the Georgia Football 2020 schedule be announced?
It is not yet known when. SEC Associate Commissioner Herb Vincent indicated on Friday that it was not an agreement made on the schedule that came together.
An open letter to my many friends who write to me and call me this morning: there is not yet a 2020 @ SEC football schedule. Really. The format was decided yesterday. Like everything else during this pandemic, it is one step at a time. Have a nice weekend.

Will Georgia and Florida play football in Jacksonville?
For now, yes this is the plan. McGarity explained why this is so.
“I talked to Scott (Florida AD Scott Stricklin) and one thing we do not want to do is play Florida here with a limited crowd and then go to Gainesville in 2021 with 93,000 fans,” McGarity said. “I do not think we want to be in that position. For now, unless something changes, that game will be in Jacksonville.”
Will there be fans allowed at Sanford Stadium for Georgia football in 2020?
As of this writing, the SEC is trying to find a solution where it will allow some fans to participate in the games in 2020, although it will obviously be with a limited capacity.
“I think the conference will set some expectations,” McGarity said. “I do not think they will come down to a specific number but the expectation of social distancing, the expectation of camouflage, the expectation that we will follow the CDC guidelines. I think you have seen what happened in some NFL stadiums and I “I expect college football to reflect that.”
Will there still be a SEC SEC championship game?
Yes, although the game date has been postponed back to December 19th from its original date of December 5th. The last week of the regular season will be December 5th now. The game is still set to be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
What, if any, are the expected weeks of football from Georgia for the 2020 season?
The SEC team will take two bye weeks during the 2020 season. One will finally arrive on December 12, one week after the regular season ends and one week before the SEC Championship match. Next week of bytes will come to a point in the middle of the season during a three-week window, as SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said on the Paul Finebaum Show. This will end when the schedule is announced.
When will football practices start in Georgia?
The NCAA is still allowing teams to start fall practice on originally scheduled dates. For most teams that is August 7th. For Georgia, because their game against Virginia was scheduled for September 7, the Bulldogs will be allowed to start practice on August 9, 29 days from when the first game was scheduled.
The SEC and individual teams may still be able to reverse the practice if they decide to do so. Georgia is currently in the NCAA pre-season calendar traversal period. The Bulldogs are away with up to six hours a week walking with a football, six hours of meeting with coaches and eight hours of weight training and conditioning.
What are the other conferences they do for the College College football season 2020?
The ACC announced on Wednesday that it will switch to a 10-match conference schedule, as well as have a non-conference game. Opponents of the conference were notified but non-conference enemies were not.

The Big Ten expects to announce something next week at the start of the fall camp.
Big 12 has said it still plans to play 12 games.
