Is it possible to achieve zero cases of coronavirus without a vaccine? A local doctor explains

Some countries are reducing to zero cases of vaccine-free coronavirus. Can we see it in the DC area?

“In Europe, when she left, she really left. In places where you’ve seen numbers go down and we’re seeing much lower numbers, say, now in New York City,” said Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Vice Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Public School of Health.

He said countries that have managed to reach 30 cases per million per day have been able to open schools successfully.

“If we can reach lower levels, we will be able to do more things safely,”

; he said.

New Zealand on Saturday marked 100 days since its last issue.

Sharfstein said we are not close to zero yet in the DC area, but it is possible that the count of coronavirus cases will go down without a vaccine.

“We will not reach zero, but it is realistic to expect that we can sit down,” Sharfstein said.
