Mediatonic’s weird royal battle game, Fall Guys, is the latest craze in games, and the fire around the title is spreading beyond gaming circles.
NHL capitals in Washington posted a tweet urging developers to add hockey skins to Guys Fall. They created a mockery that shows a blue jelly blue character wearing a Capitals sweater, along with a helmet and skates. KFC’s Twitter account also requested a special skin for Colonel Sanders. You can see both of these taunts below.
Other brands, including Clash Royale and the UK charity Get Well Gamers, also decided to call Mediatonic to release special skins for this game. Clearly there is a lot of demand for specific skin in Fall Guys, and it will be interesting to see how Mediatonic reacts over time.
Fall Guys already has some special skins, including Gordon Freeman on PC and a Miami Hotline skin, so there is a precedent for new skins in the game based on other brands.
With more than 2 million sales on PC, Fall Guys is setting records for Mediatonic and Devolver Digital publisher. The game is free on PS4 with PS Plus, which is certainly helping the game reach a wider audience as well.
GameSpot̵7;s Alessandro Barbosa enjoyed his time playing Fall Guys and his variety of mini-games. “With its short games and easy-to-understand mechanics, Fall Guys is easily the most approachable and hospitable battle royale yet,” he said in the GameSpot review. “Its flared color and varied way of playing do a good job of pulling you in and keeping you fixed, even if a fist feels contrary to the light nature of its premise.”
However, it has not been sailing completely smoothly, as fraudsters are flocking to Fall Guys to try to get the upper hand.
