Go upstairs, Elon Musk. Tesla may have been the first to build an electric car over a distance of over 400 miles, but Lucid has some pretty surprising news to tell us.
The start, which once rose to the brink of collapse, said Tuesdaywill go to a stunning 517 valued at a single fee. Five hundred and seventeen miles, people. today, is king with one , and in reality, it will remain at the helm until Lucid builds Air. But when it does, it could give Tesla a hard hit.
Now, it’s certainly easy to throw numbers around when it comes to wild beginnings and concepts. But Lucid did the homework. They took Air to FEV North America to undergo independent testing. There, the FEV applied the current EPA test cycle with the standard adjusting factor, and that returned the 517 mile range. In addition to the indepedent test results, Lucid said his test showed that the Air would go beyond its original estimate of 400-plus miles of range.
“A few years ago we unveiled our alpha prototypes of Lucid Air and promised more than 400 miles of range; a reflection of our technology at the time,” said Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson. “In the intervention period we have achieved a series of technological advances, culminating in an unsurpassed degree of energy efficiency.”
Basically, Lucid thinks he was before the match years ago. However, while the company struggled financially before a lifeline was laid in the form of, it also continued to advance its technology. That brought us today, less than a month ago in September.
Rawlinson also credited the 900-volt Air Electric architecture and Atieva, technology supplier and technology battery Lucid. Since 2018, Atieva is the official supplier of batteries to the FIAracing series, and clearly, Lucid thinks her experience has been paid for in making an electric manufacturing machine.
“I’m pleased that we have consequently achieved a range of EPA 517 miles today while also significantly reducing the capacity of our battery pack, thus reducing the weight and cost of vehicles and improving interior space,” Rawlinson added.
This is an achievement from Lucid, though keep in mind, you can buy a Tesla Model S today while you can notafter reading this story. However, Lucid is still accepting reservations about the luxury sedan and plans to boost its production in early 2021. And if Tesla does not fall or with their planned 500-mile radius, Lucid seems to be the eventual winner.
