EXCLUSIVE: In what is believed to be her latest TV appearance, Naya Rivera will appear in an episode from Season 3 of the Netflix baking contest series Sugar Rush, which will be released on Friday.
Back in February, a few weeks before all production stops, cheer alumna filmed a presentation of the guest judge on Sugar Rush in Los Angeles, sitting next to Hunter March show host and professional chef judges Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo. It was the last thing Rivera fired before closing Hollywood production on the coronavirus, now in its fifth month.
Netflix on June 24 announced a premiere date of July 31 for the new season of Sugar Rush, mark Extra sweet. A few weeks later, Rivera disappeared while swimming with her son on Lake Piru in north Los Angeles. Her body was found on July 13 and rested on July 24. She was 33 years old.
After Rivera’s death, Netflix faced a dilemma of what to do with its footage. After careful consideration in consultation with Rivera’s manager Gladys Gonzalez, who has been working closely with the actress’s family since Rivera’s death, a decision was made to move forward and release the episode as planned.
The episode is dedicated to Rivera, with a note on the screen honoring the actress who appears before the opening credits.
