NFL Network Mike Silver reported that the San Francisco 49ers and tight end George Kittle are not close to a deal at this time:
Silver tips at Kittle that want to be paid as a wide receiver rather than a tight end set record.
Is Kittle camp doing everything it can to increase his value by saying he would be fired? I do not think he will go there. Kittle is one of the best players in the game and wants to be paid as such. August 7 is an important date as players have until then to decide whether to give up the game in the 2020 season. If Kittle chooses to give up, he would earn $ 150,000 but would have to pay for it next season. Anyone who knows Kittle would say that this is a long time coming. Silver said he believes a deal will be made.
Apparently, both sides have been going in the wrong direction for several days, and it was only a matter of time before the national media caught on. I’m not sure how much I put in this information, but I asked him earlier in the week if there is any update on Kittle, and apparently his deal is “disrespectful” quite unexpected. Kittle plans to show up at the training camp, but not actually practice. Again, this has not been checked, but the information is consistent with what Silver says above. I understand that the negotiations are smooth, but everything was fine and weak a week ago, and now both sides are far apart? Changed what changed?
Kittle’s peers believe he is the seventh best player in all of football. You will not get many arguments from anyone who says Kittle is not a great player. He wants to be paid as one. Why do not you want? On August 12, the team will start “practicing”. So August 7th and 12th are days to keep Kittle’s contract in mind. I hope this does not leak into the season. The last thing San Francisco needs is this hanging over their head as the team tries to win a Super Bowl.
