Power outage from NYC leaves parts of upper West Side, Upper East Side and Harlem

MANHATTAN (WABC) – A brief power outage affected Manhattan early Friday affecting the upper West Bank, Upper East Side and Harlem.

The outage occurred only after 5:15 a.m. Friday.

A live camera from Eyewitness News appears to show no power in the upper West Side north of West 72nd Street.

Con Edison’s online index rose from 67 outages to 1,268 clients in Manhattan.

Power began to return just before 6:00 p.m.

ConEd said they expected the scattered outages to remain for the next hour or so in the affected parts of Manhattan as the system returns.

Due to power outages, expect mass transportation disruptions to train service A, B, C, D, 1, 2 & 3 in Manhattan. Consider alternative routes and allow extra travel time.

ConEd is investigating a cause.
