This is the wealth spread in California ruined by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – making them neighbors with celebs Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres.
Santa Barbara property documents show that the spacious nine-bedroom residence and 16 bathrooms on the Montecito estate were purchased on June 18 for an eye watering at $ 14,650,000. The 18,000-square-foot home stands on 5.4 acres of land and fences tightly gripped the boundaries of the entrance gates to the estate.
According to Zillow, the entrance opens into a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone leading through a majestic arch of trees towards the main residence. The main house includes a library, office, bathroom with a separate dry and wet sauna, gym, games room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and garage with five cars.
The home of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle $ 14.7 million in Santa Barbara, California
The Sussexes have lived in Montecito’s house for six weeks
The house sits on a private street in an exclusive area of Santa Barbara, home to many celebrities
The house was built in 2003
The property has extensive lawns, lush rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, flowering lavender, centuries-old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a swimming pool. She also boasts a two-bed, two-bath house, perfect for Meghan Doria’s mother, who is acting as Archie’s one-year-old nanny. Doria has already been home, TMZ reports.
According to Zillow, the house has been updated with the latest Lutron and Crestron lighting systems, including the iPad control.
The property is located on a private street in a luxury and secluded estate in Montecito. Almost every home in the multi-million dollar neighborhood is designed for privacy, with long streets and large gates.
Royal insiders say Harry and Meghan bought the house with the help of Prince Charles.
A source said: ‘Charles was very eager to help and put his hand in his pocket to help. He is committed to his two sons and at any time he can help them whenever he wants’. Clarence’s home declined to comment.
The house boasts a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a swimming pool, among other amenities.
Harry and Meghan have moved into a star-studded neighborhood
The expansive property stands at 5.4 hectares
At their peak Harry and Meghan’s combined fortune was estimated to be worth about $ 43 million.
Leading luxury real estate broker Jason Streatfeild, who has an office in Montecito, told DailyMail.com Harry and Meghan will enter the community directly.
“It’s the kind of neighborhood where you can’t figure out who your neighbor is, but you really don’t care,” he said.
It is not uncommon for Oprah Winfrey to enter the grocery store or sit next to Ellen DeGeneres for lunch at the Miramar Hotel.
It is a very private and exclusive area, a place where you can escape with an ocean in front of you and the mountains behind you.
“We are about 90 minutes north of Los Angeles and about four hours south of San Francisco – a unique community facing south, which has the Channel Islands directly in front of us.
“We have a great climate, calm waters and it’s just a very health-friendly community with a lot of things to do outside.”
Streatfeild, 39, who leads a team of five agents in Montecito for real estate firm Douglas Elliman, said there is also plenty of shopping and great places to eat.
“There are also two small shopping districts filled with great restaurants and high-end shops,” he said.
“Harry and Meghan coming here will certainly create a buzz, but then we’re used to celebrities here.”
Harry and Meghan have gotten a theft after their new home was originally sold in 2009 for over $ 25 million
Neighbors told DailyMail.com they had not seen Sussexes, saying residents on private streets often wore them themselves. The former royal couple enjoyed walking in the parks near their temporary home on Vancouver Island, Canada, and their new home is just a few minutes’ walk away from a canyon trail frequented by hikers catching the Southern California sun – though with COVID-19 face masks.
Asset records show that Harry and Meghan’s new residence was built in 2003.
Despite its great price, the house is a steal compared to its previous sale price. A previous owner bought the property in May 2009 for over $ 25 million.
Hoping to return a profit, it was ranked by Sotheby’s six years later for $ 34.5 million, but had no recipients.
It was eventually checked for $ 16,975,000 in January this year, and sold to Sussexes for $ 2,325,000 below the asking price.
Page Six reported that the couple have lived in Santa Barbara for the past six weeks.
