The State Election Commission (CEE) suspended voting in some districts because they had not received ballots, the CEE said.
The CEE later announced that voting would be scheduled for any areas that were unable to open until 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Voting will resume at those polling stations on August 16 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a CEE announcement.
“This is completely unacceptable and savage! What the State Election Commission did today is unprecedented and there is no excuse that can support it,” Vázquez said.
