Below are key spoilers from the ABC series finale SHAELD Marvel Agents
Deciding on the fates that end the series of SHIELD AGENTS. it was not a scary task, but a fun one, says one of the presenters of the Marvel drama.
When it came to figuring out who would end up where, doing what, and with whom in the series ’closing sequence, which followed a one-year time jump,“ I don’t remember fighting that much, ”the co-performer Jed Whedon told the press this week “I mean, it was fun” – in part because the rest of this final episode was so packed with crises and timeless solutions.
“In the first half,”; Whedon noted, “it was like, ‘There are so many moving parts for this thing thing. My brain will explode! ‘And this was just the blue sky,’ could what could it be? ‘ It’s just fun to think about, and so there are thousands of great opportunities. “
Simply put, when we closed where Coulson, May, Daisy et al would end up, “We tried to put everyone in one thing with different feelings and in another place and share them as much as possible. possible, “Whedon said. “But I do not remember fighting with this. I think it was just the fun of the end.”
As revealed during the final sequence, as each team member digitally exited their virtual reunion, a year later in New York speech:
MACK is still a bigwig (dusty) with SHIELD, and is currently overseeing things on a helicarrier. His partner ELENA is also a SHIELD decorated agent, and returned in pursuit of a 0-8-4 with PIPER and an LMD DAVIS. “It’s clear that Mack and Yo-Yo are still together in a relationship and working with each other – and proud of each other, “said co-presenter Maurissa Tancharoen.
Fitzsimmons are retired with a capital-R, and have left the union to resume a village picnic with Alya. “I think for a long time, we had a feeling that Fitz and Simmons would be out of SHIELD and living the simplest life – while secretly working with Daisy on her side,” Whedon said. (Read many more on that happier ending.)
CAN is an instructor (exhausted!) at a SHIELD academy appointed no less than the late Agent Phil Coulson; FLINT is among its cadets. “I think it made perfect sense to us that May could be a teacher at Coulson Academy. Like, it all sums up her relationship with Coulson [and her as] the reluctant teacher, “said Tancharoen. it is helping to boost the lives of all these potential agents …. That made good sense to us. “
DAISY is still with SHIELD, working on Zephyr 3 as an “astral ambassador” (as she puts it, her beloved “love” with a typewriter). SOUSA (which she brought speed to foreign life with a ET show) and her sister KORA are on her side. “In terms of space, we wanted that feeling – especially when our budget constraints became a concern – that it felt great, and we wanted someone out there looking at it,” Whedon explained. “It felt good to put him there, under Zefir’s command.”
Coulson is still his LMD / Chronicom hybrid self, citing a Saturday as he has an open invitation from May to bring some kiddos yarn to the Academy. Convenient, in response to the end of ABC ‘series too first episode, he has just returned his “Lola” (thanks to Mack, forever mechanic), whom he pilots up, up and away before things fade into black.
An agent who did not make it back to the original term was Deke; instead, FitzSimmons’s nephew of the day voluntarily to lag behind in the 1980s in 1) put the gizmo needed to push others into the poorer quantum sphere of time, 2) take a leadership role in the GOAL of that era, and 3), you know, be the rock god that he is.
“The only thing we talked about a bit was to leave Deke behind,” admitted EP Jeff Bell, “but having what was really a great sacrifice … makes sense.” Plus, the manufacturers love the idea of a moonlight rock star with a spy body (or vice versa). “If we were to go back for another one [series], that would be the show, ”Whedon retreated.
Considered all together, SHIELD EPs hope the decisions that are made sound to long viewers, as strongly as they did to writers.
“Seven Seasons is a long time to work on plays, to invest in these characters, to live in this story, as well as in the productive aspect of things, and in our relationships with each other, writers, actors and everyone involved in the show, “Tancharoen observed.” The emotional context to say goodbye to this experience … is definitely something that is reflected here where we leave our characters at the end of the show. So it’s very personal to us, and I think there’s a sense of hope for what will come for each of them. “
And as Mack himself pointed out – and to drive home the theme of the show, the finale, and what the agents ultimately fought for – SHIELD was a family.
After a year of jumping, “They are already set in their new life, but no matter, there is still a desire for what it was, and I think it will always be there,” Tancharoen said. “That connection between them will always be there. So hopefully, that kind of hits at home after all [everyone]. “
