Simon Cowell has thanked the medical staff who treated him in Los Angeles after a bicycle accident in which he broke a part of his back.
The music and talent show judge sent “a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors,”; calling them “some of the most beautiful people I have ever met.”
Cowell was taken to hospital after falling off his new electric bicycle in his backyard in Malibu.
The 60-year-old said he should have “read the manual” before boarding.

“Some good tips … If you buy a bike with electric rails, read the manual before riding it for the first time,” he tweeted.
He thanked fans and friends for their good “messages” and urged everyone to “stay safe”.
Cowell had surgery Saturday night that involved a number of procedures, including a metal rod placed in his back.
His spokesman said he had “broken his back in a number of places” and that he was “doing well”.
Cowell, who has a six-year-old son Eric with his partner Lauren Silverman, was told he was testing his new bike when the accident happened.
He had an earlier fall in 2017 when he fell down the stairs at his London home.
Amanda Holden was among those who wished the “dear friend” well on social media.
Judge Got Talent of Britain said he was “doing well” after his surgery and wished him “a speedy recovery”.
Piers Morgan also welcomed what he described as “a very bad accident”.
It is understood Eric was with his father when the accident occurred.
