The incentive period is extended for Social Security beneficiaries with children

Those eligible will have until September 30 to post their information online. They can expect payments to be made by mid-October, the IRS said Friday.

Many Social Security beneficiaries, as well as retired Railways and veteran pension beneficiaries, are not required to file tax returns because their income is below the filing threshold. While those people received $ 1,200 incentive payments automatically, they may have lost $ 500 due to addiction because the IRS did not have that information on file.

Initially, April 22 was the last day to register for the extra money – and the IRS only gave 48 hours notice of this deadline.

He placed the families of some 600,000 children at risk of losing payments, according to an estimate by the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities.

Those who have not yet done so can use the IRS online “non-filtered”
; tool to provide dependent information starting August 15th. Children under the age of 17 qualify for the extra money.
With Congress stalled, a second round of stimulus checks will not come soon any time soon

Those who missed the April deadline but used the non-filing tool by May 5 will not have to take further action and can also expect to receive the extra money in October, the IRS said.

Those who have received their original payment by direct deposit will receive the extra money deposited in the same account. Others will receive a check.

Any beneficiary who misses the Sept. 30 deadline will have to wait until next year and claim it as credit in their federal 2020 income tax return.

The agency has sent more than 160 million economic incentive payments since the end of March, when Congress authorized the program as part of its largest pandemic aid response. Both Democrats and Republicans have proposed sending a second round of payments, but lawmakers have yet to reach an agreement on a new stimulus package. It is likely that nothing will pass before September.
