As evidence emerges that Republicans are working to get Kanye West to the presidential vote – including in the main state of Wisconsin – the Daily Beast reported Thursday night that some of President Donald Trump’s allies are wary of the effort.
It is unclear whether Trump himself is involved in the plot. He denied any knowledge of the plan and only expressed love for the West when recently asked about the issue by the press.
But the basic logic of the strategy is transparent, if not de facto sound: Having West in the polls could pull Biden’s vote and give Trump an edge, especially if the race is tight in major states.
Some have criticized the ideas regarding the apparent strategy as racist in nature, assuming that Black voters would be easily displaced by Biden due to an innovation campaign by a Black celebrity. And the Daily Beast reported Thursday that a senior poll for President John McLaughlin did not buy the theory.
“[It] could siphon out the Trump Blacks who do not like Biden, “he said.”; Blacks who do not like Biden in a two-way race would vote for the president. “Now they can consider Kanye.”
The Daily Beast also reported:
Seven sources in the president’s political orbit – senior administration officials, GOP operatives, campaign advisers and individuals close to Trump – had mixed reactions when discussing Kanye privately this week.
There were some who loudly applauded the filthy GOP-related hoax to fill West’s weird run, thinking it was at least a bad attempt, if it somehow hobbies Team Biden in critical condition. Some said the West should seek professional help and support from loved ones, rather than start a long offer for the White House.
Forbes also reported on the bizarre West forum after an exclusive text-to-speech interview with the music star. He noted:
In an extensive interview with Forbes last month in connection with his political aspirations, West, who has never voted before, set up a platform for his “Birthday” that included a pro-life board claiming the Planned Parenthood was set in cities by supremacists white, a management style modeled on the fictional country of Wakanda in Black Panther and conspiracy theories against vaccines. In that interview, West also claimed he was ousting Trump. “I’m taking off my red hat, with this interview.” His reason: “It seems like a big mess to me. I do not like that I caught the smell he hid in the bunker.”
However, he refrained from criticizing Trump in addition. “Trump is the closest president we have had in years to let God still remain part of the conversation,” he said.
And West was eager to criticize Biden, and expressed consolation at the idea of damaging the former vice president’s White House chances. “I’m not denying it; I just told you.”
After that interview was published, however, West took to Twitter to throw cold water with the idea that he is just in it to hurt Biden:
Of course, no one seriously believes that West can win with the random effort of the “campaign” he put forward. So either he is merely lying to cover up his true purpose, or, as many fears and his wife have suggested, he is losing touch with reality and struggling with mental health issues. If this is the case, it is really embarrassing that any GOP operative would cheer him on.
